Sneak peek - A fall wedding in Central Park

To say that I have been busy these past few months is an understatement. It's been almost 7 months since I attended Making Things Happen (blog post to come on what I've been up to...) and since then I've been working nonstop! Summer has come and gone with barely any tan lines to show for it, and I've spent more time listening to podcasts than talking to friends.

But its moments like this past weekend that make it all worth it. I had the honor of making decorations and creating all of the flower arrangements for my friends Beth and Blake - two great people who are perfect for each other, and had the perfect fall wedding on the roof of a building in Central Park. Their wedding would've been beautiful without my decorations - but I am so happy I had a chance to contribute to the day.

Here are some photos from the wedding that I took showing some of the details I made including the wax paper leaf garlands that hung inside the tent, hand painted bar menu, fringe tissue tassel drink stirrers, and some of the flower arrangements I put together using bottles I've collected over the past few years.

Once the professional photos are done I will be sure to share those!

My first window display!

Every day when I walk to and from the subway to go to work, I get to pass by some of my decorations in action. That's because I created a window display for the wine store a few doors down from my apartment in June (it's a great little shop with a great hand selected selection of wine and specialty liquor called Free Range Wine). I decided to offer my services because there was a local wedding event taking place that weekend and I though it would be a good opportunity to promote Sparkle Motion Decor. I had 2 days to make something and a slew of Etsy orders to work on so I decided to create a multi-layered tissue tassel garland, and tissue paper flowers to stick in the empty wine bottles the owner keeps in the windows. I also provided some matching drink stirrers with my contact info on them, some cake topper garlands, and some cute trays, cake stands, and tablecloth for the table display.

The owner of the shop said he'd display the decorations as long as I'd like and he keeps asking me for more drink stirrers with my contact info because he has now run out! I really enjoyed making this window display and hope that I'll have an opportunity to create more displays later this year!

Sparkle Motion Decor is on Twin Cities Live!

Last month, an event stylist/photographer named Kelly Anderson contacted me to see if she could use my navy, teal, mint garland for a photo shoot and TV segment on her local morning show, Twin Cities Live. The segment and shoot were all about kid-friendly 4th of July party ideas. Here is the link to the video. You can see my garlands hanging from the star piñata. Hope to have some photos to share from Kelly's photo shoot soon!
